This is a very rare cloth map of the country between Great Salt Lake, Utah and just south of the Grand Canyon in Arizona. As stated in the title of the map, it was made to accompany the lists of distances, camps, mines, and geographical features throughout the area. While other known examples of this map appear on paper, this cloth version the map notes “For Office use,” below the title. 

The map is a gem for any outdoor enthusiast or lover of nature as it shows in great detail some of the earliest surveys of one of the most topographically diverse areas of not only Utah and Arizona, but the United States as well. The map details wide variety of canyons, mountain ranges, hot springs, and high peaks, towns and mines. The map includes several notable areas for eco-tourism, such as the Grand Canyon, Bryce Canyon, Zion National Park, Dixie National Forest and Capitol Reef National Park.  

Condition: This map is in A condition, printed on linen and folded for use. There is some light damp staining along a lower horizontal fold, else fine.
