Antique Maps of the Indian Ocean

Explore rare, antique maps showing the vast Indian Ocean throughout history. Here, you'll find one-of-a-kind maps like 'Old Delhi' which is one of the few obtainable mid-nineteenth-century antique maps of Delhi. This highly detailed piece depicts what today is Old Delhi west of the Yamuna (Jumna) River, which flows from glaciers in the Himalayas. You'll also find navigational charts of the Bay of Bengal extending to Sri Lanka. Our selection of vintage maps show old city walls, palaces, major gates of the city, bazaars, mosques, temples and churches. Browse the work of notable cartographers like William Herbert, Aime Robiquet, Edward Weller, and Hubert Jaillot that cataloged the immense expanse of the Indian Ocean including the coastlines of India and the Arabian peninsula. These historical maps show significant topographic and geographic detail with cities and settlements, major river systems, mountains, deserts, and other features delineated.
