This authentic antique hand-colored (original) map is from the third American edition of the Atlas and depicts the entire world. All text is in English including; Division of the Earth by Continents, by Climates, Religions, Zones, and Positions.
It also includes Itinerary Measures for Ancient Geography, Dimensions of the Earth, and a Chronological Account of the Most Celebrated Navigations from 1432 through 1790, which details such notable voyages as those of Cook.
The texts provide considerable detail in each category and the Atlas enjoyed great success, published as it was for English speakers. It quickly became a sought-after item in America, where it was published in Philadelphia.
Condition: This map is in A condition with minor toning and fraying of the top right border. Minor centerfold separations in the upper and lower borders have been repaired with archival material on the verso.
