This is an original aquatint lithograph print of a 1865 Chicago street scene, signed by Raoul Varin and numbered 54 of 100. These prints were later produced in greater numbers for the Century of Progress World's Fair, but none of those reprints were signed or numbered.by Raoul Varin.
This specific view is taken from a point south of the Court House, taking in the north half of the block on LaSalle between Washington and Randolph streets. The east side of the public square is shown with people gathering in conversation. A lively window into city life in Chicago in 1865.
Condition: This print is in very fine condition with lovely color and full margins on all sides. The piece is currently framed and can be sold / shipped as such for an added shipping cost or removed from the frame and shipped alone at our standard low rate.
