This is a large format topographic map of Yosemite National Park and the surrounding area. This present edition was published in 1963, compiled from most recent information and earlier maps which were based upon a polyconic projection done in 1927. The map was edited and published by the U.S. Geological Survey.
This map centers on Yosemite Valley, noting popular tourist sites such as Inspiration Point, El Capitan, Upper and Lower Yosemite Falls, Sentinel Dome, Yosemite Village, Curry Village, and Mirror Lake to name a few. The outer reaches of the map extend to include the town of Mariposa near the Merced River, Cherry Lake, Mono Lake, Mammoth Lakes and Mammoth Mountain. Topographic lines provide a three dimensional visualization of the contours of the Sierra Nevada Mountains. Numerous mountain passes, lake, rivers, and peaks are noted throughout.
This is an exceptional vintage map for any outdoor enthusiast, especially those who frequent Yosemite National Park.
Condition: This map is in A condition, once tightly rolled, now flattened on linen-backed paper for preservation and presentation purposes.
