1974 Beatles Map | The Beatles Trail | City of Liverpool
By: City of Liverpool Public Relations Office
Date: 1974 (published) Liverpool
Dimensions: 28 x 18.5 inches (71 x 47 cm)
This is a one-of-a-kind pictorial map of Liverpool that celebrates the history of the Beatles. Published by the city of Liverpool Public Relations Office in 1974, this map is perfect for anyone that could never let go of Beatlemania.
The map notes the birthplaces of all members, the location of their first gig at Litherland Town Hall, the schools they attended (primary through college), and the locations of the homes they grew up in. Other landmarks that found their way in songs atop the billboard charts include Penny Lane and Strawberry Fields. The artistic style in which the map was created closely resembles that of the animated movie, Yellow Submarine, which can be found on the surface of the Mersey River that runs through Liverpool.
Should one want to embark on a Beatles pilgrimage throughout Liverpool and see all of the sites relating to the infamous rock group that took the world by storm in the 1960s, this map would be a useful tool as detailed instructions are given in the bottom section for following the Beatles trail by bus or on foot.
This map comes in two distinct forms, one with the text at the bottom, and another that was issued folded without the text. We prefer the version with the text as it adds a unique aspect of utility to the work.
Condition: This map is in A condition, with bright color and full margins on all sides. The map has been linen-backed for preservation and presentation purposes; a completely reversible process.
