This is an authentic, antique map of Greece, the Aegean Sea and the western portion of Asia Minor (Turkey). The map was published by Sebastian Munster out of Basel circa 1552.
This impressive wood cut map is one of the earliest maps to focus on the region. It notes the locations of Athens, Constantinople, Arcadia, Crete, Rhodes, Bursa (Byrsa) and Troy (Troia) to name a few. Major rivers are named and mountain ranges are delineated in typical Ptolemaic fashion.
Condition: This map is in B+ condition with full margins a few areas of marginal damp staining, and lovely hand coloring.
