1799 A New Map of the Circle of Bavaria
By: John Cary
Date: 1799 (Dated) London
Dimensions: 18 x 20 inches (45.7 cm x 50.8 cm)
This is an authentic hand-colored antique map by the prominent cartographer John Cary, which depicts the whole of Bavaria as it was in 1799. Bavaria itself is described in great detail, while surrounding regions such as Tyrol, Franconia and Bohemia as well as the country of Austria show only primary cities, borders, and rivers and larger streams. This is a fine example of Cary's uncanny ability to make mountain ranges appear to be three-dimensional on the map.
Condition: This map is in A condition with a minor centerfold separation that has been reinforced with archival material on the verso. Wide borders on all sides. A superb example of this map.
