This is a colorful and detailed map of the state of Louisiana with an insert of New Orleans. The map shows roads, railroads, and canals with distance between towns on stage and steamboat routes. Physical geography of the land is also show especially in the southern portion of the state where rivers, lakes, and wetlands are clearly shown.
As with most Mitchell maps of the 1850s, this map is surrounded by a pink and green border that when matted and framed, really make the rest of the map stand out well. This is a great piece for anyone with ties to the state of Louisiana.
Condition: Map is in B+ condition with old coloring and some paper toning throughout.
