This is an authentic antique map of Northern Africa, the Mediterranean, and Southern Europe. The map was published circa 1745 in Amsterdam by Covens & Mortier.
This decorative and informative copper-engraved map shows the northern coast of Africa from Morocco to Libya, then Balearic Islands, Corsica, Sardinia, and Sicily in the Mediterranean, as well as all of Portugal, Spain, and Italy. Larger or more important cities are noted in red and trade routes are delineated throughout the map. In Sicily, Mount Etna is show erupting. The map is from a Dutch edition of De L'Isle's work entitled, Atlas Nouveau, Contenant Toutes Les Parties Du Monde, Ou sont exactement Remarquées les Empires, Monarchies, Royaumes, Etats, Republiques &c. Par Guillaume de l'Isle. Premier Géographe de sa Majesté.
Condition: Map is in A condition, with full margins, original color, and a nice impression on heavy paper. Two centerfold separations that do not enter the image have been professionally repaired on the verso.
