An original chromolithograph view of Brussels, Belgium as it appeared towards the end of the 19th century. With farm animals appearing the the foreground, the artist seems to have wanted to covey the close proximity of the countryside to the city. The St Michael and St Gudula Cathedral is depicted prominently above the city in the distance.
This view was one of sixteen depictions of international cities that appeared in William Collins's "The Complete Atlas, Consisting of One Hundred and Twenty Maps of Modern, Historical, Classical, and Physical Geography," published out of Glasgow in 1878.
Condition: Print is in A condition presenting a vivid image on clean paper with full margins on all sides.
