An original chromolithograph view of Calcutta, India as it was in the late 19th century. The view looks down on what is now Maidan Park with the city appearing in the background, situated on the eastern bank of the Hooghly River.
This view was one of sixteen depictions of international cities that appeared in William Collins's "The Complete Atlas, Consisting of One Hundred and Twenty Maps of Modern, Historical, Classical, and Physical Geography," published out of Glasgow in 1878.
Condition: Print is in B+ condition with some soiling and foxing confined to wide margins.
