This is a scarce map of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania created in 1891 by Baird Reed and published in 1892. The map features two advertisements, one at the top for J. R. Weldin & Co. and another on the bottom for John S. Roberts Wall Paper.

The map shows Pittsburgh and Allegheny City, a municipality on the north side of the Ohio and Allegheny river, established 1788 and annexed by Pittsburgh in 1907. Vital transportation infrastructure such as bridges, roads, street cars, railway lines and stations are depicted and named throughout the map. From colonial era battles to the industrial revolution, Pittsburgh has been regarded for centuries as an important city for its geographic location, positioned at the confluence of the Allegheny and Monongahela Rivers. This map offers a view of the city at a time of economic growth through steel manufacturing ultimately earning it the nickname "Steel City."

Condition: This map is in A condition, originally issued folded, now linen-backed for preservation and presentation purposes.
