A unique little post-Revolutionary War era engraving that offers detailed harbor plans based upon larger maps by William Faden. These plans include many imporant cities such as Havanna, Cuba; Charles Town, South Carolina; Elizabethtown, New Jersey; New York, New York; Boston, Massachusetts; and Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
As stated atop the map, this engraving was made for John Hamilton Moore's New and Complete Collection of Voyages and Travels, first published in 1785. Given the signing of the Treat of Paris which ended the Revolutionary War and official recognized the United States as a sovereign nation occurred in 1783, this work provides us some of the earliest depictions of these important cities and harbors as part of the United States (cave for Havana, Cuba).
Condition: This map is in A condition, tastefully colored by hand over dark impression on clean paper with full margins on all sides.
