This is an excellent example of Arnold Guyot's New Intermediate Geography, with special attention paid to the state of Vermont at the end of the atlas.
The book features a cover board with a gentleman of the orient seated, smoking an opium pipe under a bust of Christopher Columbus, flanked by native people of unidentified origins. The maps within include information about each region as well as lessons and exercises in understanding distance, contours, and how they are drawn. Much of the content is internationally focused, unlike most other American made educational atlases that focus primarily on the United States.
Condition: This atlas is in A condition with light rub nd bumped corners to the cover boards, a leather spine that is will intact with some light wear. The pages are clean without any significant foxing or discoloration and lovely woodcut images.
