A double-page wood engraved print, depicting Lord Elgin and his troop accompaniment marching into Peking for the Convention of Peking on October 24, 1860. This convention was set in place by both Great Britain and France to put an end to the Second Opium War. After the defeat of the Chinese forces, both the Earl of Elgin of Great Britain and Baron Gros of France marched into the Imperial City to demand Prince Gong to sign the peace treaty.
