Date: 1950 (published) Chicago Heights, IL

Dimensions: 12 inch diameter, 15 inch height

This is a fine example of Weber Costello's intriguing Peerless globe, featuring a plastic mold shell mimicking the terrestrial topography of the world in a raised relief fashion. Any place the blackened oceans meet the land, the clear shell is raised from the subtle points of low lying islands to the staggering heights of the Himalayas. The overall strategy of the peerless shell is to add the sense of touch to one's examination of the world's terrestrial topography.

It is a most unique item, suitable for any globe collector or person with a strong sense of wonderment and curiosity with regards to the topographical nature of our planet.

Condition: This globe is in A condition with the original base in tacked and a largely clean plastic shell encapsulating an attractive globe. There are a few areas along the equator where the shell has separated (most notably in the Atlantic Ocean), but is not in danger of coming apart.
