Sunfish Shooting Off The West Coast of Ireland
DESCRIPTION
A large single page, wood engraved print from the Harpers Weekly Newspaper, shows a process of hunting and shooting large Sunfish (also known as Mola Mola), off the western coast of Ireland. Each image shows a different portion of the process to shoot and capture these large sea creatures, who bask at the surface to warm themselves, hence the English name. At this time, another large sea creature, the Basking Shark was hunted so vigorously, they were not seen again in the surrounding Irish waters until the 21st century.
