This interesting highly detailed map of New York City and cities adjacent to it was published in Colton’s General Atlas. Oriented west, the depiction of New York starts at the north end of Central Park and extends to Battery Park at the southern tip of the island.

The map is very detailed, showing streets with their names, railroads, numerous parks, rivers and lakes, and squares. Government and other large buildings such as hospitals and jails are included. An inset map in the lower right corner features the northern part of the island. A large portion of Brooklyn is depicted, and portions of Jersey City and Hoboken are depicted along the top of the map. The various wards in the metropolitan areas are numbered, and colored in contrasting pastel shades for easy identification of the boundaries.

Condition: This fully colored map is in A condition with very light offsetting in the North River of the Hudson and light toning around the outer edges.
