This is a fine example of Johnston’s Map of China, on thick and heavy high-quality paper. Johnston’s later maps of the area included Japan, making this scarce earlier map rather difficult to find.
An inset in the upper left quadrant features the extensive river systems and estuaries of the Canton and Hong-Shan Rivers as they flow into the China Sea. The map depicts topographical features and political ones, including boundaries of provinces and cities and towns.
Condition: This map with original color and decorative piano key border is in A condition with minor offsetting.
