1928 Yellowstone National Park Picture Map
DESCRIPTION
This is an early, bird's eye view map of Yellowstone National Park and Gallatin Canyon published by the Poole Brothers out of Chicago in 1928. The map features all of the tradition highlights of Yellowstone National Park, including Yellowstone Lake, Shoshone Lake, Old Faithful, Lower and Upper Geyser Basins, Mammoth Hot Springs, the Continental Divide, Grand Canyon of Yellowstone, the Absaroka Range, and the various lodging options that lay within and around the Yellowstone National Park.
The map was published as a folding map aimed at convincing travelers to visit the park by way of the Chicago Milwaukee St. Paul and Pacific Railroad (1847 - 1986), which would take passengers from as far away as Chicago or Seattle to Three Forks, Montana where they would then travel by automobile through the Gallatin Gateway and Canyon into West Yellowstone.
The verso of the map features descriptions of Yellowstone and the Gallatin Gateway as well as a Map of the Gallatin Gateway to Yellowstone National Park, and several images of scenic attractions within the park.
