This marvelous poster dating from 1954 was commissioned by the French government to highlight and promote the ‘Vins de Roussillon Midi Provence’ wine-producing region of the country.

Printed in France, it is the work of French artist, illustrator and print maker, Remy Hetreau. The title is contained in a ribbon cartouche at the top of the map. Here Hetreau positions his work on a scrolled map held by a sailor. A lovely French maiden at the top of the map gestures to the wine-growing regions. Well known cities and sites of historical interest such as the medieval walled city of Carcassonne, Nice on the French Riviera, along with other places of interest. The wines produced in each region are named.

Condition: This superb linen-backed poster is in A condition.
