A fine engraved print portrait of Benjamin Franklin circa 1856. The portrait is surrounded by an elaborate scrollwork border featuring a vignette of the signing of the Declaration of Independence below and an image of allegorical figures inscribing Franklin's name on a tablet below the names of Washington, Adams, and Jefferson.
Benjamin Franklin a true renaissance man was a leading writer, printer, political philosopher, politician, Freemason, postmaster, scientist, inventor, humorist, civic activist, statesman, and diplomat. Perhaps his greatest act was negotiating a truce on behalf of the United States with Great Britain during the 1783 Treaty of Paris.
Condition: This print is in fine condition showing a dark impression on clean paper with some light water staining at the edge of the paper that does not invade the image and a small rust spot within Franklin's coat.
