Dimensions: 11.5 x 14 inches (29.2 x 35.5 cm)
This is an authentic, antique lithograph map of Washington and Oregon by Samuel Augustus Mitchell Jr. The map was published in Philadelphia as part of Mitchell's New General Atlas of 1860. The map is surrounded by an elaborate floral boarder that distinguished Mitchell’s works from other map makers of his era.
The map is color coded by county with, towns, cities, rivers, lakes, and mountains detailed throughout. Noteworthy cartographic elements of this map include a large section of Oregon labeled "Unexplored," an "Emigrant Route from the States," otherwise known as the Oregon Trail delineated, and several hot springs noted throughout the map. Washington is bordered by Dakota and much of this land would later become Idaho, and Montana.
Condition: Map is in A condition showing a fine printing with bold original color on clean paper. The top left corner is torn off, but still leaves ample room for framing.
