This is an original antique map of Mississippi, by Thomas Cowperthwait & Co. out of Philadelphia in 1852. The map is color coded by county with townships also identified and shows railroads, common roads, rivers, canals, lakes, large towns and villages of the mid-19th century.
The map includes a table of steamship boat routes with distances between Natchez and Pittsburg as well as Natchez and New Orleans. At this time in history, the steamship was the most advanced and primary mode of long distance travel as many railroads had yet to be built.
Condition: Map is in A condition with bold original color on clean paper with ample margins on all sides. Some light paper toning is apparent along the edge of the page
