DESCRIPTION
This attractive woodcut map depicts the area of Transylvania, including the Transylvanian Alps and the local river systems. Now in present-day Romania, the area is shown with all fortifications and cities and towns of note in the third quarter of the sixteenth century.
This interesting regional map was taken from a German language edition of Munster’s Cosmographia, one of the most influential geographical works of the sixteenth century.
CONDITION
This map with modern color is in B condition with some damp staining in the lower centerfold.
