This finely engraved map represents graphically the distribution of rainfall intensity over time of the entire globe, to the extent that it was known and measurable in the middle of the 19th century.
The map is carefully annotated throughout regarding specific weather patterns in the various climes of the planet. Zones of ‘constant precipitation’ are delineated, as are zones of ‘periodical rains’. Areas receiving snowfall are designated in both the northern and southern hemisphere. Notations denote where precipitation is heaviest and most frequent, as well as the seasons in which the precipitation occurs. Weather patterns throughout the world are described, with particular attention paid to precipitation patterns of the Indian subcontinent in an inset map in the upper right quadrant.
Condition: This beautifully engraved and colored map on heavy paper is in A condition.
