This striking little pictorial map does an amazing job showing the contrast between the east and west sides of the state as divided by the Cascade Range. The eastern portion of the state was primarily used for grazing livestock, while the timber and logging industry dominate the Cascade and western portion of state. Natural landmarks depicted in this map include Crater Lake, Multnomah Falls, Mount Hood, and the Oregon Caves. This fascinating pictorial map of Oregon was published in 1935 by Ruth Taylor. It appeared in the atlas published by Taylor and her husband Frank Taylor entitled “Our U.S.A. - a Gay Geography,” with the maps done by Ruth and the text by her husband. The map provides local color and flavor, depicting cultural stereotypes, agriculture, industries and activities of the state.
