This fascinating pictorial map of the Caribbean was published in 1935 by Ruth Taylor. It appeared in the atlas published by Taylor and her husband Frank Taylor entitled “Our U.S.A. - a Gay Geography,” with the maps done by Ruth and the text by her husband. The map provides local color and flavor, depicting cultural stereotypes, agriculture, industries and activities of the region.

The map focuses on the Caribbean or West Indies from Florida in the north, Central America to the west, Columbia and Venezuela in the south and the Lesser Antilles to the east. Throughout the map, controlling countries are noted under the names of each island. Porto Rico, Vieques, Culebra, St. Thomas, St. John, and St. Croix are all labeled under U.S. control. At the time this map was made, Panama was a dependent territory of the United States that had been granted local autonomy and some independence while still retaining the suzerainty of a greater sovereign state

Condition: This map is in A condition with full margins and rich color on clean paper.
