This remarkable large format map of California reports the extent of the Land Office Survey through 1858, just eight years after it had become the 31st state in the Union.
The map is highly detailed with names of settlements, towns and cities denoted, including the naming of rivers, lakes, and mountains. Gold mining areas are geographically detailed. A notable feature is the list of 82 private lands grants for which surveys had been completed. A nice map for early California collectors.
Condition: This folding map is in A condition with a few small separations at corner folding points.
