An exciting and informative map detailing the route of the famed Lewis and Clark expedition of 1804 - 1806 that was produced among a series of maps to commemorate and honor explorers of America.

This map delineates the route of Lewis and Clark in red with dates included along the journey including the return journey where they split up to explore more of present day Montana. Vignettes and placed throughout the map identifying noteworthy elements of the western frontier and the exploration itself, including a scene where the long-lost Sacajawea is reunited with her Shoshone tribe, the arduous task of portaging, an armed Sioux warrior, bison, elk, and pronghorn, to name a few. 

Additional trails are shown in yellow that correspond to a key just below the title cartouche. These include the Oregon Trail, Pony Express Route, Overland Stage, Fremont's Exploration (1843-44), Butterfield's Denver Stage, the Santa Fe Trail, and the Mormon Trail. 

Condition: This map is in A condition with some minor marginal tears that have been fully repaired and reinforced through linen-backing.
