Dimensions: 22.75 x 34.5 inches (57.8 x 87.6 cm)

This historic map of Asia was first published in 1674 by Hubert Jaillot in out of Paris, France. The large format, two-sheet map depicts the entire Asian continent extending as far west as Allemagne (Germany) and southern Europe, includes the Arabian peninsula and reaches fairly far into Africa. Also included are many of the islands of Oceania. There is significant topographic and geographic detail, with cities and settlements,  major river systems, mountains, deserts and other features delineated.

The map is based on geographical compilations and work done by Nicolas Sanson which remained unpublished at the time of his death. The map is embellished by a lovely decorative title cartouche in the upper left quadrant and one in the upper right containing multiple scale bars.

Condition: This double sheet map is in very fine condition with a slight mismatch of the sheets where they were joined and some light soiling in places.
