This Chatelain engraving depicts seven of the most important Dutch trading outposts and fortifications in the East Indies in the early eighteenth century. The four harbor views are of Batavia (Jakarta), Amboina, Ternate and Solor. Three forts are shown. These seven precisely detailed vignettes portray some of the major endeavors and accomplishments following the founding of the Dutch East Indies Company in the early 17th century. French text accompanies each vignette.
Condition: This hand colored map is in A condition with a fine print impression on clean paper and full margins on all sides.
