This is a spectacular panoramic, rare bird’s eye view of the massive 1923 Kanto earthquake in Japan by the famous Japanese graphic artist - Yoshida Hatsu Saburo. The Kanto earthquake which had a magnitude of 7.9 occurred on Sept 1st, 1923 on the island of Honshu and devastated parts of Tokyo and Yokohama. Over 142,000 died in the earthquake. The print shows several firestorms engulfing a few cities from end to end. Roads and steam ship routs are delineated throughout. This is a very rare bird’s eye view, with only a couple examples known.
Condition: This map is in B condition with some wear and tear along fold lines and small amount of loss. Some stains and marks. Colors are clean and bright.
