DESCRIPTION

This remarkable vintage original WWII poster is part of a poignant series issued by Abbott Laboratories in collaboration with the United States Treasury’s Schools-At-War Program. It features a heartfelt image of a soldier embracing his wife, accompanied by the powerful message: "BUY WAR BONDS." Created by renowned Russian-born artist Symeon Shimin, this 1943 poster beautifully captures the emotional sacrifices made by servicemen and their families during wartime.

Abbott Laboratories, a key supplier of penicillin during World War II and well-known for its development of anesthetics in World War I, commissioned this compelling artwork to encourage the purchase of war bonds. The company president took great care in selecting artists for this important series, often sending them to combat zones to provide authentic representations of wartime life.
