An original late 19th century fine art print of a painting by the Norwegian artist, Christian Krohg,  that was on display at the 1893 Columbian Exposition in Chicago. This antique print,  was part of the 1893 Geo. Barrie publication of Art and Architecture by William Walton.

This stirring scene of Leif Ericksson  pointing towards land, depicts the fierce wind and salty sea as several of many challenges. Crew ascending from below onto a wet deck, appear anxious to view the discovery. The power of the sea is obvious in this fine print, as is the detail of the mens' clothing.

"From this unpleasant genre, he has made a wide departure in this big, windy, and briny canvas, full of the freshness and vigor of the sea and those stout old times when the Northmen pushing westward over unknown waters, stumbled upon America five hundred years before Columbus."

Condition:  This print is in A condition on heavy 19th century fine art paper that displays an embossed Columbian Exposition stamp of authenticity.  There are no visible tears, holes, or folds.
