1935 Pennsylvania
By: Ruth Taylor White
Date: 1935 (Boston, published)
There's lots of activity and information depicted in this 1935 map of Pennsylvania. The Compass Rose of the Liberty Bell appears beneath the title. The only large body of water adjacent to the state, in the Northwest area, is Lake Erie. Throughout this large state, the map shows the importance of the numerous rivers. Pittsburgh and Philadelphia cradle the lower half of this state, and the borders are clearly defined. This map is a great example of the whimsical, yet informative, creation by Ruth Taylor White of one of our unique states.
