This is a detailed and attractive mid-century Aeronautical map of Montana also showing parts of Wyoming and Idaho, identifying airports, private fields, railroads, mines, quarries, restricted areas, and more. The map was published by the Montana Aeronautics Commission out of Helena in 1954 with artwork by Hal Shelton.

The map offers an almost three-dimensional view of Montana with the varied elevation is defined by color (yellow, green, white), and the topography of the mountains and river valleys rendered with an artists touch. A table on the left lists 73 air-marked lookout towers keyed to the map, and another table at the lower right indicates radio aids, Morse code, and an interesting variety of ground to air emergency signals to be utilized by downed pilots or any surviving passengers. The verso contains a comprehensive Montana Airport Directory and an additional map with common flight paths and VOR ranges.

Condition: Map is in A condition, folded as issued but could easily be framed as is or flattened for an additional cost.
