1938 Panorama of New York World’s Fair 1939
By: John Weinrich
Date: 1938
Dimensions: 15.25 x 20.25 inches (38.75 x 51.5 cm)
This folding map produced for the New York World’s Fair of 1939 is extremely rare, with few dealers ever having offered it. It is an artist’s conception of the Fair as it would be at completion.
The example presented here is in remarkably good condition for a folding map, and includes a page from a contemporary to the time journal called Protective Life Lines, which features a small photographed copy of the plan of the fair identical to the large colored plan. The artist’s rendering depicts an area covering in excess of 1,200 acres, along with the buildings, streets, landscaping, etc. Just below the map is a key listing 28 points of interest. This poster map would be a rare find for the collector of NYC memorabilia.
Condition: This color map is in B+ condition. Published folding, some minor separations entering the image have been repaired with archival material on the verso. The page from the journal is in similar condition with separations at the centerfold.
