A mid-19th century extraordinary account of the events leading up to and during the Siege of Boston, complete with fold out maps and illustration. This is the first edition of the book, published by Charles C. Little and James Brown out of Boston in 1849. Subsequent editions were published from the 1850s - 1870s in greater abundance.
The book offers history of the various early battles of the Revolutionary War, discussing somewhat briefly, the politics that led to the war, and describing the various encounters and skirmishes at Lexington and Concord. Most of the book is devoted to the siege of Boston and the Battle of Bunker Hill, with a look at defenses, tactics, British actions, etc.
Condition: This book is in B+ condition with original covers featuring gold gilt décor on front and back. All pages and maps securely bound to the spine with little foxing and no significant tears.
