This is a bright and cheerful pictorial map of Paris presenting its many historic sites and monuments, in a detailed 3 dimensional fashion. A carefully drawn and colorful map, L. Guilman’s Nouveau Plan de Paris Monumental is a stunning piece of French cartography.

The map shows the city proper as well as the surrounding areas, particularly to the south and west. Guilman identifies a number of monuments and buildings, including the Eiffel Tower, Jardin du Luxembourg, Sacré-Cœur, Les Invalides, and the Bois du Boulogne.

The map, published in 1926, shows a Paris at the end of the renovations of Georges-Eugène Haussmann. Throughout the course of the nineteenth century and on to 1927, his plans for bringing boulevards to the center of Paris were implemented, radiating out from the city’s grand monuments.

In the upper left corner is a key of all featured monuments, museums, promenades, “curiosities,” churches, theaters, concerts, trains, boats, and cemeteries. Guilman also includes several suburbs, or banlieues, including Saint-Denis, Charenton, and Clichy.

Condition: Map is in A condition issued folded, not flat with no fold separations, staining, holes, or tears. Colors are bright on clean paper with full margins on all sides.
