This colorful vintage poster features wines from the Bourgogne (Burgundy) region of France, famous for some of the finest wines in the world. The poster gaily depicts this historical region in southeastern France, tracing the river systems which water it and naming each area and the wine for which it is famous.
While most famous for its burgundy wines, the region also produces pinot noirs, Beaujolais, Chardonnay, and Chablis all of which are reflected in the vignettes of the poster. The region is crisscrossed by a network of canals and features stunning grand chateaux, many of which have been converted to luxury hotels. All these features are reflected in the poster. The capital of the region is Dijon, famed for its mustard, and is home to the Palace of the Dukes Musée des Beaux-Arts was established in 1787.
