This is a highly detailed map of Alsatia (Alsace) as it was in the mid-18th century. Alsace is the French wine producing region on the left bank of the Rhine including the cities of Basel, Strasbourg and Wissembourg. The region is one of the top white wine regions of France, producing fine wines with pure fruit expression. Some primary grape varieties include Sylvaner, Pinot Blanc, Riesling, Muscat, Pinot Gris, Gewurztraminer and Pinot Noir.
Political divisions are denoted and all topographical features depicted in detail including river and drainage systems, lakes, mountains and forested lands. Cities, villages, settlements and fortified castles are denoted. The map is embellished by an ornate title cartouche featuring a river god, heraldry and a number of putti.
Condition: Map is in A condition with original color and no tears or holes.
