Carte de l'Isle de Sainte Lucie Dressée au Dépost des Cartes et Plans de la Marine pour le Service des Vaisseaux du Roy.

By: Jacques Nicolas Bellin

Date: 1763 (published) Paris

Dimensions: 21.75 x 34 inches

This scarce Bellin map/sea chart of St. Lucie was drawn as the Seven Year War was ending. Insets along the top of the map provide magnified and detailed views of the most important harbors of the island, including the Harbors of Port Carenage (Castries), Roseaux (Marigot Bay) and Grand Islet du Choc (Gros Islet).

Agricultural areas are denoted throughout the island, and remnants of a former fortress are designated. Offshore, safe anchorages are shown.  The insets include depth soundings and shoals. The map is oriented east.

Condition: Large-scale, double-page, a strong impression on heavy, watermarked paper. This map is in A- condition. Folded as published.  Modern joining of sheets with archival material on the verso.
