This interesting bird’s eye view map of California depicts the state from some point to the west of it in the Pacific Ocean. Starting in southern Oregon and reaching to northern Mexico, it also features portions of Arizona, Utah and Nevada.

Owens’ map focuses on the myriad points of interest in the areas featured including such iconic destinations as the Lava Beds, Death Valley, Oil Fields near Long Beach, Orange Groves, Old Mining Towns, and the Golden Gate Bridge to name a few. The verso contains text describing ‘Principal Points of Tourist Interest’, which contains a comprehensive listing of such points, along with a road map which would enable one to drive to virtually any destination in the state.

Inset maps of both San Francisco and Los Angeles are also featured on the verso. The welcoming message on the front of the map is signed by Frank F. Merriam, Governor of California thus dating this map to the period 1934 - 1939.

Condition: This folding map is in A condition.
