This rare and visually impressive antique map of the Atchison, Topeka & Santa Fe Railroad, was separately issued in Chicago in 1885 by the Poole Brothers Map Engravers.
A fine railroad map of the West, it shows rail routes from Kansas to California, and many points in Mexico. In addition to the Atchison, Topeka & Santa Fe Railroad, the lines of the following major western railroads are covered: In addition to the ATS & F, the map covers the lines of the following major western railroads: Central Pacific RR, Southern Pacific RR, Atlantic Pacific RR, Mexican Central RR, and the Sonora Railway.
The map includes some very early side routes off the main lines, including: San Bernardino to San Diego (California Southern RR) Los Angeles to Santa Monica, Wilmington and Santa Ana Williams AZ to Prescott AZ Lamy, NM to Santa Fe, NM Pueblo, CO to South Fork and to Silverton, Colorado Some of the more interesting towns and places appearing on the map include Telluride, Colorado, Ft. Davis, Texas, the Mojave Sink, Silver City, New Mexico, the Grand Canyon, Death Valley, etc. Myriad forts, mining boom towns and other points of interest are also depicted in this marvelous decorative map.
Condition: This map is in B+ condition with separations at two points of fold intersections. In all other regards the map is in quite fine condition.
