This is a striking, large and colorful antique case map of Vermont, published right at the turn of the 20th century in 1902.
As noted in the title, the map presents the state with abundant detail regarding its highways, natural features, cities, villages, post-offices and railroad system. Counties are delightfully color coded throughout the map with their names noted in bold and legible font.
Below the title is a distance table between various cities for travelers and a population census for every 10 years beginning in 1790 and ending in the year 1900. During that time, the population grew from 85,425 to 343,641. Today, the best state estimate of its population is around 627,000.
Condition: This map is in B+ condition with a faint water stain in the top left portion, outside of the state boundary. It is also without original covers, which provides a convenience to anyone wanting to frame or hang the map.
