This unique 19th Century climatological map by Lorin Blodget presents an interesting look at not only temperature and rainfall averages of the United States in 1873, but their ability to present such a vast amount of scientific data nearly 150 years ago.
Various shades of grey show levels of annual rainfall while red lines delineate mean temperatures during the summer, winter, and annual average. States are outlined and large cities noted, but more attention is given to the topography of the land and river systems throughout the country. A true depiction of 19th century GIS at its best.
Condition: This map is in A condition with a few very minor edge tears and some light offsetting.
