This small but exquisitely detailed historic print of one of the Chicago "Cribs", in Lake Michigan. A water crib is a structure built to house and protect offshore water intakes, used to supply the city of Chicago with drinking water. Water is collected & transported through tunnels located around 200 feet beneath the Lake to a Purification Plant. Four boats are seen approaching the Station. On the verso is some text of early Chicago.
Condition: Good, suitable for framing.
