This folio page from Chatelain’s atlas depicts a scenic view of a bridge spanning a gorge in Xensi Province in China, framed with a scallop shell border, and surrounded by eleven vignettes depicting people from various areas of China in their native costume and environment. Among those pictured include two kings of the Tartares of China, a scholar in his study, women in different poses, soldiers and peasants sowing their crops.
Condition: This print is in B+ condition with some rough borders and toning at the outer edges and minor foxing.
